Weekly Networking and Speakers

Join us each week on Tuesday at Hibachi Sushi Buffet (4334 Central Ave, Hot Springs National Park, AR 71913) from 12:00 – 1:00 for networking among members and guests, lunch, and a speaker from the community. Speakers include area leaders in education and public policy, area business owners, public officials, and more.

2022 Educator and Community Partner Appreciation Awards

With great pride, we hosted the third annual Greater Hot Springs Kiwanis Club Educator and Community Partner Appreciation Awards! Five Teacher Appreciation Awards, two ALE Educator/Professional Appreciation Awards, one School Counselor Appreciation Award and one Community Partner Appreciation Award were announced based on nominations from Garland County residents.

Recipients of the 2022 Educator Appreciation Awards:

Recipient of the 2022 Community Partner Appreciation Award:
Michael Thompson/Integrity Heating and Air (for their partnership/support of the Better Chances Program in Hot Springs) 

Who is eligible to nominate? 

  • Any teacher in any school in Garland County can be nominated for a Teacher Appreciation Award. 
  • Any ALE (Alternative Learning Education) Teacher or Professional within an ALE Program at or associated with a Garland County school can be nominated for the ALE Educator/Professional Appreciation Award.
  • Any School Counselor at a Garland County School can be nominated for the School Counselor Appreciation Award. 
  • Any individual in Garland County who is a partner in the safety of area children, in the feeding of children (through summer meal programs, food kitchens, etc), or someone who is involved with volunteer efforts for events and activities for children can be nominated for the Community Partner Appreciation Award.

Teacher Appreciation Award, ALE Teacher/Professional Award, and School Counselor Award recipients received a $250 classroom or program grant, which can be used for anything student-related including supplies, funds for special field trips or projects, PPE, technology devices, and other necessities determined by the professional. Additionally, each recipient received a  $100 personal gift card. The Community Partner Award recipient received a $100 personal gift card. These funds are made possible through generous support from the Hot Springs community, provided through fundraising activities hosted by club members throughout the year.

2021 Terrific Legs Contest and Terrific Kids Banquet

The Greater Hot Springs Kiwanis Club hosted another another Terrific Legs Contest in the Fall of 2021 to benefit elementary students in the Garland County area! 

Proceeds from the Terrific Legs Contest and Terrific Kids Banquet benefit Garland County students through the Terrific Kids Program and Teacher Appreciation Awards. Both programs directly benefit children either through Terrific Kids Awards or grant money that our teachers receive for their classrooms through our Teacher Appreciation Awards.

Thank you to our area participants and businesses! We also appreciate the continued support of our Hot Springs community by voting for contestants AND attending our Terrific Kids Banquet on October 19.

Terrific Kids Programs

The Kiwanis International Terrific Kids Program is a character-building program that recognizes students for modifying their behavior. The program encourages kids to become the best version of themselves. The GHSKC hosts various fundraisers annually to fund Terrific Kids supplies at area public and private schools. Teachers and Principals collaborate at respective schools to award Terrific Kids during awards ceremonies, luncheons, or programs throughout the school year. Schools and school districts that we serve include:

Student Scholarships

The Greater Hot Springs Kiwanis Club works through the Missouri-Arkansas District partnership to offer Garland County students a chance to apply for the Earl-Collins Foundation Scholarship. This is a $1,000.00 scholarship; applications are due each January.
